Prior
to joining Hamilton, Faatz and Waller, P.C., as a shareholder in August of 2010,
Gregory James Smith practiced law with the Denver law firm of Burns,
Wall, Smith and Mueller, P.C. since 1972, where he was a shareholder for more
than thirty years. Mr. Smith concentrates his practice in business law matters
for the health care professions and their nonprofit associations. He serves as
the General Counsel for the Colorado Chapter, American Physical Therapy
Association and acts as counsel for the Clear Creek Valley Medical Society, the
Home Care Association of Colorado and for physicians, physical therapists and
other health professionals and their professional organizations, as well as for
home health and rehabilitation agencies and for medical, technology and service
enterprises.
Mr. Smith is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Family Medicine, and teaches
Ethics in the Health Professions at the University of Colorado Denver (UCD) and
is an Affiliate Faculty member in Health Care Ethics at Regis University, where
he teaches in the nursing and physical therapy programs. In addition to his
teaching at UCD and Regis, he is or has been a member of the governing boards
and other committees of the Denver and Colorado Bar Associations, including
their continuing legal education arm, and participates in educational programs
on a number of topics for health care professionals, attorneys, accountants,
students, business owners and managers.
Mr. Smith grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado and received a Bachelor of Arts.,
cum laude with Distinction in History, from The Colorado College in 1969, a
Doctor of Law from Cornell University in 1972 and a Master of Humanities from
UCD in 2009. He is currently pursuing graduate work in Bioethics and Health Care
